Q | What do you do?
A | Now retired and trying to raise money for saving the bees, birds butterflies and pollinators. As well as running the Catweazle Club. I used to be a reprographic worker and printer for GSK Pharmaceuticals formally known as Beecham Research Laboratories.
Q | What are your interests?
A | I love British nature and the countryside, sport, gardening and of course The Catweazle Fan Club. I belong to the bee conservation trust, the woodland trust, the butterfly trust, the RSPB, the CPRE (Campaign for the Protection of Rural England) and The Sussex Wildlife trust.
Q | Do you have any pets?
A | Had so many in my life from geckos to hummingbirds from ferrets to sugar gliders! At the moment I just have Bramble my pooch who is a Norfolk terrier. Until recently I had a Raven called Malachim – but I still see him when I want to say hello!
Q | If you could invite 3 celebrities to a private meal with you who would they be?
A | William Shakespeare, Margaret Rutherford and Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum a famous Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot.
Q | What’s your most treasured memory?
A | So many, but the birth of my little brothers and becoming Geoffrey’s friend would be up there.
Q | Do you have a favourite folk hero?
A | King Arthur.
Q | What is your claim to fame?
A | Not sure I have one but I suppose being selected to go to England trials for football maybe?
Q | Name your 3 Favourite books?
A | My dad’s wonderful book he wrote of his childhood and love of nature. First Light by Geoffrey Wellum. A book of fairies that I remembered as a child, which I recently found online (and I naturally bought again!).
Q | Name 3 favourite musicians or composers?
A | Beethoven, Kate Bush, Gian Piero Reverberi.
Q | When did you last cry?
A | When I saw that awful advert about the plight of the working donkeys abroad. I can’t watch it.
Q | What was your favourite subject at school?
A | Games, which led me to playing Hockey and Tennis for my county and later for the South of England.
Q | What trait do you admire in other people?
A | Honesty.
Q | What’s your favourite meal?
A | Egg Chips and Beans.
Q | What do you like watching on TV?
A | British nature documentaries, Sport, British History and Older comedies and comedians because they are so much better than todays!
Q | If you could spend a day in a different century what would it be and why?
A | Medieval or Victorian. Medieval for its history and Victorian because it was a time of reform and invention.
Q | If you could do something for the world what would it be?
A | To cure all cancers.
Q | Name someone from history you admire and why?
A | Winston Churchill because we would have gone under if he hadn’t had the courage of his convictions at a crucial time for our country even though at the time, he was vilified for it and called a warmonger.
Q | What have you done that you are proud of?
A | Not much that I can recall, but I was proud to be able to lay Geoffrey to rest in a way I hope he approved of.
